Avatar how old is jet

He became obsessed with exposing Zuko and Iroh as firebenders, eventually attacking them when he was unable to come across concrete evidence. Despite these traits, Jet was recognized for his charisma, and he had a roguishly charming, magnetic and friendly personality.

He was sympathetic to people who were desperate, or who had suffered at the hand of the Fire Nation. This drew many people into his group of Freedom Fighters, and secured their loyalty to him. In return, he showed his loyalty to them. Though Jet used knives and throwing darts on occasion, his primary weapons of choice were a set of twin tiger hook swords. He possessed masterful skill with his hook swords, able to defeat a master bender, duel evenly with a master swordsman of Zuko's caliber, and hold his own against and overwhelm multiple opponents.

Jet was just as capable of fighting with a single hook sword as he was using two. To communicate with his Freedom Fighters without being overt, Jet was able to mimic a variety of bird calls and mere whistles for different meanings. He used this to give Longshot the signal to destroy the dam and prepare the Freedom Fighters for battle. A skilled strategist and a charismatic leader, Jet was able to draw a somewhat large amount of followers.

He was capable of producing inspirational speeches as part of rallies for the Freedom Fighters, and would call his group together to initiate action against the Fire Nation. Aside from his swordsmanship skills, he was also a capable unarmed fighter, as on two occasions he was able to defeat two Fire Nation soldiers simultaneously by kicking them in the back, knocking them out.

He was also agile, able to leap from tree to tree as a way to get around and to ambush his foes. They traveled with him to Ba Sing Se after he destroyed an entire village, they tried to help him stay on the path of starting a new life, and they showed up to try and save him from the Dai Li headquarters.

Friendship like that is hard to come by, and fans can be sure he would have emerged from Lake Laogai with a new appreciation for his friends, though he would have a lot of making up to do. Jet was a notorious flirt, as fans saw through his interactions with Katara.

However, his obsession with fighting against the Fire Nation stopped him from being able to pursue romantic endeavors. Fans would hope that, if Jet were alive, he would be spending his post-war years doing the things he missed out on during his life as a Freedom Fighter, like dating. It may take a while, as he would have a lot of healing to do before he would be ready to open his heart up to others, but fans would surely like to see him settle down and be happy at some point.

Jet felt guilty for destroying an entire village to thwart the Fire Nation forces , and part of the reason he, Smellerbee, and Longshot went to Ba Sing Se was to put that event behind them and start anew. If Jet were around to see the war end and could gain the ability to travel more easily, fans could see him traveling back to the village he destroyed to help rebuild it, even if it is as punishment for his criminal behavior.

When Jet and Zuko briefly teamed up to steal food on their way to Ba Sing Se to distribute it to other refugees, fans saw that Jet really does want to help civilians. Unfortunately, during his last venture with the Freedom Fighters, he put that on the back burner in favor of his vendetta against the Fire Nation. With the Fire Nation finally pacified and the world in a state of relative peace, perhaps Jet would focus his efforts on helping those in need instead of engaging in more acts of violence.

Old habits die hard. Jet was always seen chewing on a stick or some other sort of plant matter. Even when he was brainwashed, fans could catch the vigilante chewing on hay.

Sokka doesn't lie, Jet does. Sokka respects his own and all other heritages or at least takes an interest in them, Jet never moves past his trauma from the Fire Nation by learning about them. Even their clothes contrast! Sokka wears the garb of his tribe while Jet's are a mish-mash of different garments from both the Fire and Earthen Kingdoms. Along with Jet's lying capabilities, the kid is also a natural manipulator.

He himself might not realize it, but Jet plays into what the people around him like so they'll do what he says. He jokes around with the Freedom Fighters to get them to trust him, lets Aang play around to feel comfortable, and turns on the charm for Katara to pull her over to his side. The way he manages to get the Avatar himself and a natural waterbender to build his trap for him demonstrates perfectly how manipulative the guy can be while also showcasing how gullible Aang is at least compared to Korra.

Not many people were expecting Jet to make a return after his first appearance. Then he shows up on the same boat at Zuko in the episode "The Serpent's Pass" and stylishly steals some food and immediately fans learned to love him again, showering the community to this day with fanart. But, shortly after, Jet peeks on Iroh heating up his tea with fire bending and the old fanatical Jet is back. Many fans didn't understand why Jet couldn't just let go, but it's obvious the kid has serious psychological trauma that prevents him from seeing anyone from the Fire Nation as anything less than an enemy.

And, sadly, he never got past that hatred. Not only is the line "You know, it was really unclear" one of the best jokes in the AtLA series , but it's also one of the most meta. Nickelodeon back in these days was pretty against showing straight-up death in a kid's show, which makes sense, but Avatar is a story with adult themes that need to be seen, including the atrocities of war.

And in war, death happens. But, the execs made it clear that they couldn't show a character dying in the show, so Jet's death scene was intentionally unclear because it had to be.

But, once again, in the Avatar Extras episode covering Lake LaoGai, the creators confirm that Jet absolutely died in this scene. By Jacob Buchalter Published Jun 28, Share Share Tweet Email 0. Related Topics Lists avatar the last airbender.
